DariusTX

I'm just going to make this a brief introduction to the musician, Darius Holbert, and his band from Texas, aptly titled "DariusTX." I think all of the philosophies of his music and a feelings of his style can be summed up in the following part of the song "Way Back When:"
We were young, strong, and bound for glory;
we were young, strong, messed up all the time.
We were young, strong, and bound for glory;
we were young, but now we're old enough to know that we were right.
...oh, we were right."
These lyrics are so perfect when accompanied by the music that it makes me smile knowingly to myself whenever I hear. I may not be strong, but I'm definitely young, and that makes me just as bound for glory as anyone else my age is; we've all got a shot, but a few of us fail, or chicken out, thinking "I'll regret doing this when I'm older."
But when I say this, BELIEVE that it comes with real experience; I'd rather be an old man who regrets living a life full of rash actions and dire consequences than be an old man who spends every torturous night pondering the things that might have been. We can almost always change our possible futures, right up until the very end; but we can never change our pasts.
Darius Holbert's piano style is somewhat reminiscent of Norah Jones', but his southern roots certainly shine through, life a flashlight shining red through the fingers of his sound. His voice can even sound as though it were right out of a gospel song at times, but he certainly finds his own place in the world of music, rather than simply sitting in someone else's place.
If you like Norah Jones or Ben Folds, you might like his music, but his style is distinctly different from both of theirs, and I would strongly recommend the following songs "Way Back When," "God's Pockets," and "The Onliest Love Song."
That's as much as I care to write on this subject for now.
